CLASSES AT ETC
ETC classes teach the three pillars of theater:
acting, singing and dancing to actors with physical & developmental disabilities.
Through games, improvisation, music, and dance, our program enhances verbal skills, improves movement, builds self-confidence, and fosters socialization while stimulating creativity.
Our classes provide an inclusive environment that encourages creativity, fun, learning, love, and so much more!
Space is limited and registration is first come, first served.
FIND YOUR CLASS
Classes begin the week following Labor Day and meet weekly through December.
Each class includes a minimum of 12 rehearsals leading to a seasonal performance.
ACT 1 - FIND YOUR SPOTLIGHT
Perfect for new and returning ETC actors.
Act 1 is where many of our actors begin their ETC journey. Through acting games, improvisation, music, movement, choreography, scene work, and creative storytelling, actors build confidence, develop performance skills, and form lasting friendships in a fun and supportive environment.
Whether you are trying theater for the first time or returning for another session, Act 1 is designed to help every actor learn, grow, and shine both on and off the stage.

Perfect for returning ETC actors and approved new participants looking for another opportunity to grow as performers.
Offered in partnership with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Special Stars provides actors with the opportunity to continue developing their performance skills in a professional performing arts setting.
Through acting, music, movement, improvisation, and creative storytelling, actors build confidence, independence, teamwork, and lasting friendships while continuing their artistic journey in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Broward Center for the Performing Arts (JM Family Studio Theater) - 201 Southwest Fifth Avenue
Class Fee: $235

Registration is held through the Broward Center for Performing Arts.
Perfect for experienced ETC actors ready for greater artistic challenges and performance commitment.
Act 2 is ETC's advanced performance ensemble and prepares actors for our annual Benefit Show. Enrollment is by approval of the Executive Director and Teaching Artists.
Actors strengthen their acting, singing, movement, and storytelling skills while rehearsing for a fully produced theatrical production. Along with weekly classes, participants commit to additional rehearsals, Tech Week, dress rehearsals, and Benefit Show performances.
Performance Commitment:
• Enrollment by approval of the Executive Director and Teaching Artists.
• Additional rehearsals will be scheduled.
• Tech Week, dress rehearsals, and Benefit Show performances are required.
• Consistent attendance is essential.

ETC welcomes individuals ages 16 and older with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Whether you are stepping onto the stage for the first time or have years of experience, we will help you find the class that is the best fit.

Yes. Our evening classes are drop off programs with a closed door policy. Teaching Artists and volunteers support actors throughout class while encouraging independence in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our Teaching Artists and volunteers create an engaging and inclusive classroom. We cannot provide bathroom assistance inside the restroom, medication administration, or one on one personal care support. If you are unsure whether ETC is the right fit, please contact us.

Yes. We encourage all actors to attend class consistently throughout the session. Every ETC class works toward a performance, and each actor plays an important role in the success of the cast. We understand that life happens, but we ask every actor and family to make ETC a priority whenever possible. Showing up for rehearsals helps actors grow, supports fellow cast members, and creates the best performance possible.

Absolutely. We encourage prospective actors and families to visit a class before registering.

Transportation is not provided. Families are responsible for transportation. Our locations are accessible for family drop off, TOPS, Uber, and Lyft.

Yes. Limited scholarships are available for families experiencing financial hardship. Please contact us to learn more.
